End-Drive Conveyors

End-Drive Conveyors provide a low-profile conveying surface with the motor and gearbox at one end. This arrangement can position the drive outside a die or mold area.

Conveyor Technologies helps select the conveyor and drive for your application.

Features and benefits

Quick, Tool-Free Belt Replacement

Tool-free belt changes can be completed in minutes.

The Type A construction allows an endless belt to be replaced without removing the drive or dismantling the conveyor from its stands. Belt-replacement access depends on the tail arrangement and mounting.

End-Mounted Drive Placement

The end-mounted motor and gearbox sit outside the conveying area and can be positioned outside a die or mold area. Their position at the conveyor end is part of the installation envelope, alongside guarding, cables and the infeed or discharge arrangement.

The calibrator provides references for tension, tracking and belt-length checking.

Calibrated Belt Tensioning and Tracking

Gauges on each side of the Type A belt calibrator provide two maintenance references:

Belt setup
Calibrated tensioning and tracking.
Replacement preparation
Belt-length checking without removing the belt.

Sealed Bearings and Crowned Drive Pulley

The Type A crowned drive pulley uses two self-aligning bearings, sealed and lubricated for life. Its solid steel bearing housing also provides the drive mounting surface. This construction removes the need for routine bearing lubrication.

Options and accessories

Fit the machine

Conveyor dimensions, style and belt access.

Standard and Automation Styles

Standard and Automation styles are available with flip-up or non-flip-up tail plates. Conveyor Technologies can compare these arrangements against your mounting layout and available belt-access space.

Custom Dimensions

Custom lengths and widths can be requested. Conveyor Technologies helps match the dimensions to the available space around the drive and tail.

Choose the movement

Drive direction and coordination with the process.

Drive and Direction Choices

AC and DC motor options include reversible operation for travel in either direction. Conveyor Technologies helps select the drive for the required speed and start/stop sequence.

Inclined travel, accumulation, or reverse travel away from the drive may require increased belt tension and torque. Conveyor Technologies can review these conditions before drive selection.

Sensors and Automated Controls

Available add-ons provide two functions:

Part detection
Sensors identify the presence of a part.
Synchronized movement
Automated controls coordinate conveyor movement with the process.

Specific interfaces depend on the surrounding equipment.

Control the product

Containment, guide clearance and part presentation.

Side Guides and Width Extenders

Optional side guides support product containment.

Where more distance between rails is needed, a set of #3014 extenders adds a total of 1.25 in to the guide-clearance dimension, “D.” This gives Standard “S” series conveyors approximately the same “D” dimension as Automation “T” series conveyors.

A set of #2117 extenders allows most End-Drive Conveyors to carry loads 2 in wider than nominal belt width “W.” See Side Guides for guide and adjustment options.

Part Holders

Optional part holders support the positioning and handling of small parts. The holder arrangement is matched to the required part presentation.

Applications and integration

Manufacturing and Machine Integration

End-Drive Conveyors serve manufacturing, assembly, packaging and automation.

End-drive placement is relevant to OEM and machine integration. It can position the motor and gearbox outside the die area in metalworking and stamping, or outside the mold area in plastics and injection molding.

Specialized Operating Environments

Cleanroom, washdown and high-temperature suitability depends on the selected End-Drive configuration. The cleanroom class, cleaning methods, temperatures and chemical or oil exposure are part of that selection. Stainless steel construction is available for frequent cleaning or moisture exposure.

For an unresolved transfer or product-control problem, use the Transfer and Product Control Guide. Compare layout requirements through the Selection Guide.

Documentation and support

Load and Belt-Adjustment Documents

Find the Torque Load Chart and Increase Tension / Re-track Belting instructions in Documentation. The applicable document depends on the conveyor when checking load or adjusting the belt.

Existing Equipment

For existing equipment, start with Equipment Identification when requesting documents or a replacement quotation. If you do not know the identifier, describe the equipment and the task.

Warranty

10-year unlimited hours, 5-years on bearings, 2 years on drive packages
