Conveyors for Vision Inspection
Present the product for the image you need
A camera needs a clear view of the feature being inspected as the product reaches the inspection area. Conveyor Technologies helps bring the carrying surface, part support and conveyor motion together, with internal backlighting available for viewing profiles and edges.

Product presentation
Support and orientation
Flat belts carry parts across the inspection area and provide a continuous background beneath them. Guided holders locate a part by its geometry. Vacuum holding draws an applicable product against the conveying surface. The feature being inspected may need to face the camera, remain above a clear background or stay exposed between supports. Conveyor Technologies helps select the carrying or holding arrangement around that view.
Conveyor background and movement
Belt surface, part motion and vibration are relevant to the camera view. Movement during an exposure can blur the image, while vibration can affect the appearance of an edge. Conveyor Technologies' inspection arrangements include precision-machined pulleys and sealed bearings. Product support and conveyor motion help establish the conditions for capture; the complete conveyor and camera arrangement determines image performance.

Conveyors to explore
AccuVision Internal Backlit Conveyor
Internal LED backlighting through a translucent belt.
Useful when: You need to view a product profile or edge against an illuminated background.
AccuMove Conveyors
Timing belt motion for indexing and coordinated movement.
Useful when: Products move between working positions for inspection.
Dual Belt Indexing Conveyor
Guided part holders carried by two timing belts.
Useful when: A part needs a holder to present its features at the inspection station.
Vacuum Conveyors
Hold lightweight or unstable products against the belt.
Useful when: Thin or lightweight products need support against the belt during inspection.

Internal backlighting
Illuminate the product from below
The AccuVision Internal Backlit Conveyor places high-intensity light-emitting diode (LED) modules beneath a translucent belt. The light passes through the belt and silhouettes products for a camera mounted above.
Inspect profiles and edges
Backlighting is used for silhouette inspection, edge detection and dimensional inspection. With the light beneath the part and the camera above, the product profile is viewed against an illuminated background. AccuVision provides consistent illumination across its illuminated area and supports manual or automated examination of small parts and sensitive products.
Arrange the inspection zones
Backlit and top-lit views serve different inspection tasks. The view needed for a profile or edge may differ from the view needed elsewhere on the product. A conveyor layout can incorporate separate inspection zones where the application calls for different lighting arrangements.

Camera and machine integration
Fit beneath the inspection enclosure
Low-profile construction accommodates installations with limited vertical clearance. End-drive and center-drive arrangements offer different drive locations around the infeed and discharge.
Position accessories
Conveyor mounting and accessory rails provide attachment points within the surrounding machine. Camera position, field of view and the product path are considered together so the relevant feature is presented within the inspection area. Drive location and the space around the conveyor also affect the enclosure and cable layout.

Motion and inspection timing
Continuous or indexed travel
Variable-speed movement adjusts travel through the inspection zone. Indexed arrangements move and pause products at defined positions. In a continuous-motion arrangement, image capture must be coordinated with the moving product. An indexed arrangement also brings the station's dwell time into the inspection sequence.
Coordinate the capture point
Encoder feedback provides position information for camera timing. Position-based triggering relates capture to belt movement, rather than relying only on a fixed time interval. Trigger signals, speed commands and downstream reject timing depend on the selected controls and inspection equipment.
Camera, lighting, software and control compatibility are specific to the proposed system.
