Features and benefits

Tool-Free Belt Changes in Minutes

Belts can be changed in minutes without tools. The MPB design also allows belt threading without disengaging the drive. The belt and drive need to remain accessible.

Belt-access detail placeholder
Tool-free belt changes take minutes, and belt threading does not require disengaging the drive.

Interior Access Without Separating the Belt

The conveyor provides access beneath the conveying surface for cleaning and maintenance without separating the belt.

Maintenance-access detail placeholder
Interior access allows cleaning and maintenance beneath the conveying surface without separating the belt.
Mechanism detail placeholder
The belt-drive arrangement combines 200° wrap, dynamic tracking and controlled sprocket engagement.

Dynamic Belt Tracking and Sprocket Engagement

The belt wraps 200° around the sprocket. Dynamic tracking at the drive and tail sprockets guides the belt, while sprocket preloading and self-synchronization control its engagement. The arrangement uses low chordal action sprockets and proper back tension.

Low-Profile Drive and Tail Sections

The drive and tail sections use a low-profile arrangement for installations with limited space.

Options and accessories

Conveying surface

Belt styles, materials and special compounds.

Belt Surfaces

Available belt styles include:

  • Flat Top and Grip Top.
  • Flush Grid and Mesh Top.
  • Nub Top and Roll Top.
  • Flights, diamond top and other open styles.

Pitch and width combinations vary by belt style.

Belt Materials and Special Compounds

Modular Plastic Belt Conveyor: Belt Materials and Special Compounds
Material Properties relevant to selection
Polypropylene Chemical resistance
Polyethylene Low-temperature use and impact resistance
Acetal Low friction, impact resistance and cut resistance
Polyamide Strength and abrasion resistance

Special compounds address:

  • Detection by X-ray and metal detectors.
  • Low electrical surface and volume resistance.
  • UV resistance and flame retardance.
  • Elevated part temperatures.

Compound selection depends on the operating conditions and detection requirements.

Product support and transfers

Entry nose bar, guides and holders.

Entry Nose Bar

An optional entry nose bar provides an entry transfer with 0.5 in pitch belts.

Side Guides

Optional side guides support product containment during transport. Guide height and clearance depend on the product arrangement. See Side Guides for guide shapes and adjustment options.

Part Holders

Optional part holders support product positioning and handling. Holder selection follows the required part presentation.

Drive and controls

Drive mounting, motor choices and process interfaces.

Drive Arrangements

End-drive and center-drive configurations are available. Mounting arrangements include:

Compact (Fast Change)
Three-minute drive changeover, with positioning to clear overhung loads.
Bottom Right-Angle
Drive mounted below the conveyor.
Bottom In-Line
An in-line arrangement below the conveyor.
Side Mount Right-Angle
Drive mounted at the side.

The three-minute duration applies to the Compact drive changeover, not a belt change.

Motor choices include single-phase and three-phase options, plus variable-speed AC and DC options. Reversible options permit travel in either direction. Conveyor Technologies helps match the motor and mounting to the application.

Sensors and Automation

Product detection
Sensors identify the presence of a product.
Control integration
Automation options connect conveyor operation with the process.

Specific interfaces depend on the surrounding equipment.

Size and construction

Custom dimensions and cleaning access.

Custom Dimensions and Washdown Construction

Custom widths and lengths are available. For frequent cleaning, Conveyor Technologies helps select the stainless steel frame option around the cleaning method, chemicals and access needs.

Food, Packaging and Pharmaceutical Handling

Belt surface and material choices support product handling and bulk material transfer in food processing, packaging and pharmaceutical applications.

Cleaning and Operating Environments

Cleanroom, washdown, food-grade and high-temperature applications require a configuration matched to the belt compound, frame, cleanroom class, cleaning process and actual temperatures. Conveyor Technologies helps select that configuration.
