Conveyors for Pharmaceutical Packaging & Inspection

Move packages through print, scan and inspection stations

Move pharmaceutical packages through print, scan, inspection, labeling and secondary packaging stations. Conveyor Technologies helps combine conveyor motion, holders and inspection backlighting around your package, machine space and cleaning environment.

Serialization and code inspection

Position the package

Timing belt teeth engage pulley grooves to move the conveyor through a defined travel cycle. A holder presents the package surface to the print head or scanner. Belt movement controls travel; the holder controls orientation.

Coordinate adjacent equipment

Variable-speed drives allow conveyor speed to follow the pace of surrounding stations. Flat belt arrangements also carry cases through secondary packaging and aggregation areas. Positioning an individual package for a scan and transferring a case onward require different combinations of support and movement.

Conveyor Technologies helps coordinate package presentation and conveyor movement with the printing and scanning equipment. Print quality, code verification and serialization performance depend on the complete line and its equipment.

Dual Belt Indexing Conveyor

Dual Belt Indexing Conveyor

Two timing belts carry separate or spanning holders, with guidance along the working length to support packages between operations.

Useful when: A package needs to stay in a dedicated holder through several packaging or inspection steps.

FlexLoc Conveyors with Convertible Holder System

FlexLoc Conveyors with Convertible Holder System

Guided holders present the product for assembly or inspection. Holders and sub-plates can be removed without tools when the product or operation changes.

Useful when: The same line handles different package shapes or sizes and needs a different holder for each.

AccuVision Internal Backlit Conveyor

AccuVision Internal Backlit Conveyor

Internal LED lighting shines through a translucent belt to illuminate product profiles for manual or camera-based inspection.

Useful when: Your inspection focuses on the product's outline or edges, viewed from above.

Vacuum Conveyors

Vacuum Conveyors

A dedicated vacuum module holds lightweight or unstable products against the belt to maintain their orientation during transport.

Useful when: Lightweight packages tend to move out of position during transfer to the next operation.

Cleated Conveyors

Cleated Conveyors

Cleats provide spacing and separation as products travel between packaging operations.

Useful when: Packages need to travel up an incline or remain separated on the way to the next packaging operation.

Vision inspection

Select the conveying background

Flat belts provide a continuous surface under the product for camera views from above. Timing belts and guided holders provide other positioning arrangements for inspection stations. The feature being inspected and its required view determine which support and conveying background are useful at image capture.

Illuminate the product profile

AccuVision Internal Backlit Conveyor uses LED lighting beneath a translucent belt to illuminate product profiles for manual or camera-based inspection. Light passing through the belt presents the product against an illuminated background for silhouette and edge inspection.

Fit the inspection enclosure

Low-profile frames accommodate restricted vertical clearance beneath an inspection enclosure. Conveyor Technologies helps fit the conveyor to that space and its movement to camera triggers. A downstream reject point also links image capture with the package reaching the reject mechanism; that timing depends on the inspection equipment and controls.

Labeling and secondary packaging

Present bottles, cartons and cases

Timing belt configurations are used for positioning at wraparound, front-back and top labeling stations. The labeler needs access to a particular package surface. Product support holds that surface in view, while conveyor movement brings the package into the labeling operation.

Separate products between stations

Cleated Conveyors provide spacing and segregation during transport. Low-profile layouts serve cartoner infeeds, case packing and bundling operations. Conveyor width and the package path connect the discharge to the receiving position at the next machine.

Configure the machine connection

Belt width, conveyor length, drive placement and mounting can be selected around the packaging equipment. OEM & Machine Integration covers these layout choices.

Cleaning and controlled environments

Conveyor options include stainless steel frames, different belt materials and sealed-for-life bearings. The bearings do not require routine relubrication.

Cleaning chemicals, product contact and access to the conveying surface affect the materials and construction. Conveyor Technologies helps select the arrangement and identify the relevant documentation for the packaging environment. Cleanroom use also depends on the applicable classification and contamination controls; suitability is specific to the selected components and operating conditions.

Discuss your packaging or inspection task

Tell us about the package, the operation and how it needs to be presented at the next station. Include any cleaning or controlled-environment requirements you already know. Conveyor Technologies can help select and configure the conveyor. A brief description is enough to start.
